Sure enough, we have made some cheesy garlic bread with our Herbs de Provence bread (see our spice up basic bread post). And, as expected, it was absolutely delicious! Super simple too, which is always nice!
Cheesy Garlic Bread
Here’s what you’ll need:
2 slices Herbs de Provence bread
1 clove garlic (chopped)
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
¼ cup butter (or margarine) at room temperature
¼ cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
¼ cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
In the above picture, we have already mixed together the garlic butter.
Preheat your oven to broil at 425˚F.
Chop the garlic as finely as you like. We don’t go too crazy, but we loooooove garlic and really don’t mind getting a big taste of garlic in every bite! In fact, we sometimes even use two cloves of garlic and/or add a sprinkle of garlic powder to the mix. Using a butter knife or spreading knife, mush together the garlic and butter or margarine until they’re thoroughly combined. Spread this onto your two slices of bread. Place in the oven until lightly toasted, about 3-5 min.
Now for the cheese! For more even distribution, we often mix the 2 types of cheese together in a bowl first. Then just sprinkle it on the toasted bread.
Place your cheesy bread back in the oven for another 5 minutes or so, until the cheese is slightly browned on top.
And that’s it! Simple, right? Try it out & let us know how you like it! Of course, you don’t have to use spiced bread, but it tastes much better if you do!
