We live in a hamlet just outside of the small city of Trail, BC (a population of about 7,500 people). At Kootenay Spice we very strongly believe in community and shopping at local businesses. If we can’t find an ingredient in Trail, we attempt to find it as close as possible and we always buy Canadian.
We are very proud to have a relationship with Kate’s Kitchen, the local Salvation Army food bank and soup kitchen. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to use their certified industrial kitchen space to mix and create our herbs, spices and seasoning blends. This has also opened the door for a wider variety of products that we will be bringing to you in the future. It also means that when you buy from Kootenay Spice, you are supporting an important community service.
As Kootenay Spice grows, so will our support for Kate’s Kitchen and the local economy. This is part of our vision. Watch for fundraisers sponsored by Kootenay Spice that benefit the kitchen and other organizations in our community.
What do you do to contribute to your community? Do you shop local when and where you can?
